Through creative learning at Uthpanna, we attempt to meet the needs of diverse learners, engaging them in tasks according to their individual capabilities. While some children have an aptitude for academics, others benefit from learning a vocational skill that will enable them to be self-employed or work in sheltered workshops. In order to prepare them for employment and/ or academics, we offer:

Pre-vocational training for children with moderate and severe mental retardation, preparing them for vocational skills offered at Swavalambana, our entrepreneurship and employment programme. They learn pre-vocational skills for tailoring, screen printing, painting, bag making and so on.
Functional academics for children who show potential in academics. Here children are provided with a relevant and informative experience that is meaningful and applicable in day-to-day life. The children begin at a basic level, and grow according to their individual capabilities.
