Children's Day 2007 at FAME India
 
We had a special sports event to mark Children’s Day at FAME India. The children enjoyed the races and activities in which they participated enthusiastically.

Sports Day at Deutsche Bank
  Deutsche Bank hosted a sports event for 40 of our students at their campus at Electronic City on 14 November 2007. The children and the Deutsche's CSR team participated in the events together. Aravind, from our Adult Support Programme, presented a drawing to Mr Arindham Bannerji , CEO of the Bank, that he drew on the spot. This was greatly appreciated by Mr Bannerji who also presided over the function and distributed prizes.

Sixth anniversary celebrations and release of souvenir
  We celebrated our sixth anniversary on 3 July 2007 in our new school building at Jayanagar. To highlight the growth of our organisation and continue to raise awareness about our cause, we launched our inaugural souvenir. Mr Rajiv Mody, Chairman and CEO, Sasken, presided over the function and released the souvenir. The booklet has information about disabilities, personal experiences of parents and volunteers, opinions of experts in the field, and contributions from staff and children. The anniversary celebrations included a tour of the school where the guests were exposed to classroom sessions.

Mr Padmanabhan, from Rotary Club of Bangalore Central, was the special guest, and was joined by fellow Rotarians and guests from the corporate sector.

Volunteers’ Day
 
We had a special volunteer's awareness day at the end of the academic year 2006-2007. The event helped volunteers understand FAME India better, through presentations by the staff, on the work and facilities of the school.

NGOs Meet
  FAME India organised an NGOs meet where representatives from 10 non-profit organisations participated. Our purpose was to bring like-minded groups together, so we could learn from each other and explore possibilities of working together.

Art exhibition at Leela Galleria
  The young artists at FAME India proudly presented their work at 'Empowered Me Too!', an exhibition at Leela Galleria on 6 September 2006. The children worked with internationally renowned artists, Atosi Shyam and Raghava KK, to express themselves through oil and acrylic paintings. The theme was 'Light', and Raghava introduced them to painting with their hands instead of brushes. We were happy to have Ashwini Nachappa and Arjuna awardee Shikha Tandon visit the exhibition and show their support.

Art exhibition at Time and Space Art Gallery
  Pankaj, Pasha and Rekha, our talented artists at FAME India, saw their dream become a reality on 19 May 2006. With the help of Mrs Renu George their work titled 'Empower Me' was presented at the Time and Space Gallery. The three children worked with popular modern artist, Raghava KK, and produced some excellent pieces.

Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2006
  FAME India participated in the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2006, on 15 January with 20,000 others who took to the roads to run for various causes.

Shivamani's visit
  Musician Shivamani visited FAME India, with his family and musican friend Louis Banks, to celebrate his daughter's birthday with our children. He hosted lunch for all at the school and was very impressed with our work. The children were very excited to have the two great musicians play for them exclusively.

Shraddha in concert
  Shankar Mahadevan, 'Mandolin' Srinivas, Sivamani and Loy Mendonsa who form the popular fusion group, Shraddha, came forward to raise funds for the construction of our new school building. They performed live in concert on 26 February 2005 at Palace Grounds.

Half marathon in Bangalore
  SPT Sports conducted a half-marathon in Bangalore in December 2005. Open to the public, special students from FAME and similar institutions from all over India participated. The marathon had various celebrities running along with the students. SPT Sports donated 30 per cent of the registration fees collected from the participants to FAME India.

Inter-school painting competitions
  FAME organised painting competitions across different schools in the city between June and October 2005. The theme was Ability in Disability. Close to eight thousand students from schools spread all over Bangalore participated. The event doubled up as a time of learning and awareness about disabilities.

Fun-A-Thon
  As part of our Utthejana programme we organised Fun-a-thon, at Maharani Lakshmi Ammani's College for Women, in Malleswaram on 11 September 2004 to raise funds and awareness. More than 3,000 students enthusiastically participated in a day of inter-collegiate competitions including antakshari and folk dances, poster painting and a fashion show with a difference.

Press conference with cricketers
  Prior to the dinner with the cricket team, the students of FAME India were invited to a press conference at the cricket stadium. It was a new and interesting experience for the children.

Uthsaha 2002
  We organised a mega event on 21 and 22 December in collaboration with the Maharani Lakshmi Ammani's College for Women at The Corporation Grounds in Malleswaram. Uthsaha 2002 brought together children with disabilities, children from our Utthejana schools' programme, celebrities and other concerned citizens from various walks of life. They kicked-off the event with a mega-rally to create awareness on various social issues.

Uthsav 2001
  Uthsav was conducted on 24 September 2001, at SSMRV College Auditorium, JP Nagar. It was a cultural journey into the world of special children. The then Governor of Karnataka Ms Ramadevi was the chief guest. Many differently-abled children presented entertainment programmes and some differently-abled achievers were honoured.

Inauguration of the School
  We inaugurated FAME India with a small function at the Jayanagar 5th block premises - the very first place where the FAME India special school was housed.
