Manjunatha’s Story

Against All Odds

Manjunatha is a 24-year-old who has Down’s syndrome and mild ID. He has been a part of FAME’s DAC since 2016.

“When he was born, the doctor said that he will not be able to live a normal life." says Manjunatha's mother, "But we proved it wrong. Manjunatha has grown to be a strong, independent and a loving son. He loves his work at the Terracotta Unit at DAC, painting diyas and meticulously rolling and making perfect beads. Seeing him taking complete responsibility of his work, finishing off with finesse all the job given to him makes me really proud of him.”

Partnering with families is one of our most crucial pillars of care, nothing stands testament to our efforts more than parents seeing their children thrive, despite all the social mores that actively work against their children. Slowly learning to work with one's hands, shouldering responsibilities and producing articles of value, these are some of the pursuits that we can develop in certain individuals.
